How to Stop Product Abuse by Cleaning Staff
I have long advocated that education is the best way to stop product abuse by the janitorial workers. Recently Brent Williams, a GCI-Technician brought to me a case study highlighting the learning requirement of Green Cleaning. This report, written by Robert Kravitz with the Ashkin Group, highlights a facility having issues with the changing of products to Green. Oh, like I have never heard of this before.

What Can Green Clean Institute Do for You?
The answer to this question for the Crawford County R-1 Schools custodial staff in Bourbon, Missouri is that for the first time in Rob Lewis’ memory, the entire staff is in the local paper to mark their recent accomplishments. Rob, district supervisor, tells me, “After earning our certification and making changes in our custodial services program, we are experiencing the best fall start to the school year we have ever had”. Recognition of custodial staff doesn’t happen within the district often, but now the community paying the taxes for this district is

Cleaning for Health
Health should be the most important concern to each and every one of us, as it is truly the only thing we really possess that we cannot live without. This conversation came up in class during a recent GCIC Technician training, and it was identified that living was the only thing a person really has to do until one passes. While this is not something that we want to dwell on, it is a fact.

Information is coming at us these days from all directions, but for the largest part it comes from the internet. This information can be a wonderful insight into places of our world that we would have never come in contact with. Other times the information found must be taken with a grain of salt. What can you trust and how do you know?

GCI Helped with $204K Account
As the owner of a Commercial Cleaning Company it was absolutely necessary to get my firm certified. While sitting at the negotiation table of securing a school contract, the Administrator stated there is a movement to "Go Green" in the immediate future. After I had informed him I was already Green Institute Certified, the deal was sealed and I had secured a $204,000 annual contract. If you are an owner like myself, you NEED to get Green Clean Certified, anything else will only substantiate that you are NOT serious about succeeding in this business.

Janitorial Greenwashing
As a janitorial service, we find that the race to add Green Products to the janitorial closet is the primary claim for a Green janitorial business. This begs the question, "What happens when all the other firms eventually add Green products to their janitor carts as well?" We have long asserted that "Green does not come in a bottle," and it is misleading and dishonest to say that your firm is Green because of the inclusion of one or more Green products. After everyone equalizes out on products, which firms will be the ones that have the su
